JIM DUELL COLLECTION 2010

Now January of 2010 is here and I am planning out the summer for activities like car shows and ESATA Events that will be happening. Sadly, on January 23, 2010 we lost our dear friend Kathie Slocum. She and her Husband Steve have been part of the ESATA Truck Club  and White Bash Truck Club and the Perry Fire Department for many years. She will be surly missed by all of us along with her family, Truck Club Members & Fire Department and Auxilary Members and especially her husband Steve.      On February 10, 2010 ESATA Truck Club Member and Collector John Schroder passed away. We will all miss John and his wife says she wants to keep showing off all his tractors that him and his boys have collected through out the years. There was over 100 pieces on display last August 12, 2009 and will continue again this next 2010 summer season. I got a picture of each tractor in his collection.  It's now March 01, 2010 and we had about 12" of snow in the past couple days and hopefully, the lion is come and quickly leaving Western New York and ready for the lamb to settle in and finish the cold and snowy spell out with the tempertures start rising into the 60's and 70's and soon to be in the 80's.  It's almost April of 2010 and on April 06 is our Perry Fire Department Annual Meeting and Election Of Officers. Shouldn't be very many changes this year only some new delegates for the County, WNY , State Conventions held this year. I have been a member of all 3 of these conventions since back in the 70's. Herbert " Joe " Funk will be our chief for 2 more years. Then on Saturday April 10th will be our Annual Banquet held at our Firemen's Recreation Hall with all the officer's being sworn in again for another year and yearly awards are given out. There will be a great meal and music after the festivities are done. I spent the day shopping for a new digital camera. I ended up at the Best Buy store at Transit Town Plaza in Amherst NY. I found a Sony A330L with a 18mm - 55mm F/3.5 - 5.6 Digital Lens. This is as close to what I have been looking for. Now all my Konica Minolta Lenses will all fit this body. Got an extra battery and a 4 - year Warranty. This made my day and ready for lots of pictures.   Then on April 20th is out Annual Truck Club Meeting at the Marilla Kwikfill on Route 354 in Marilla NY. There will be Election Of Officers held here at tonights meeting. A nominating Committee has been selected for tonights meeting and they will make their presentation for officers for 2010.   On Saturday April 24 we have to meet the bus at the Kmart Plaza in Batavia at 6:45 AM we will be heading to Central New York with the truck club for our annual spring bus trip. We will be making stops at the Tired Iron Tractor Museum in Cuylerville NY which is on Route 39 & 20A in Livingston County. Here is a collection of old tractors housed in a small garage type building owned by the Hamilton Family of Cuylerville. From here we head east on route 5 & 20 to Waterloo, NY to see the Memorial Day Museum which no one was there so we then went and had lunch at either McDonalds or Pizza Hut. Then we went into Seneca Falls to visit the Canal Systems Waterways industry Museum. Spent a couple hours walking around town. We visited the Depots on State Street which one is the Village Hall and Police Station and across the street is another depot and freight house made into offices. We got some pictures of where I lived on Falls Street back in 1953. From here we walked down by the canal and got plenty of pictures along the canal along with the knitting mill across the water. Took a lot of pictures of the store fronts on Falls Street along with the Post Office on State Street. Love photographing large businesses and buildings. We then went into the Canal Systems Waterways Industry building on Falls Street. This was a very inpresive museum and had a lot of history about the canal system.  From Seneca Falls we will be heading east on routes 5 & 20 to Auburn NY to visit the Stewart Mansion This was a very good historical museum but, after you enter the front door, no pictures are allowed inside at all. My legs and back got really tired and sore for standing in one spot for so long. I finally had to find a chair and sit for a while. We had to be out by 5:00 cause they close at that time. We then headed for exit 41 of the thruway For dinner at the Iron Skillet at the Petro Truck Stop Plaza on Route 414 in Magee NY. There will be a buffet waiting for us all here. It was sure good. After having pizza, ravolia, baked beans, ear of corn, pulled pork sandwich, barbeque ribs, chocolate fudge brownie, coffee, I was full. Now its time to go back home.  From Magee we will head back home to Batavia to retreive our vehicle at Kmart in Batavia. I will be took 409  pictures from start to finish.  We got be back to Batavia around 8:30 PM.  On April 26 I went into the Volunteers Of America store in Warsaw, NY and had a great find. I got a Canon PowerShot S50 Digital Camera with a NB-2L rechargable battery and a San Disc 512 Compact Flash Card. I only paid $9.99 for everything. I tried it before buying it and it worked so, its mine. It does take excellent pictures.
